Cast steel ear shaft installed ball valve - a reliable low-torque isolation solution for large-diameter medium and high-pressure pipelines
Design concept
The complex flow channel valve body is formed by casting process, and the ball is rigidly fixed at the center of the valve body with the ear shaft, forming a fixed ball structure. The medium thrust is directly introduced into the valve body through the upper and lower ear shafts, and the sealing surface only bears a controllable spring preload force. Design logic: The large-diameter economy is achieved through the near-final shape manufacturing of cast steel. The high-pressure thrust is dissipated and the operating torque is reduced by the ear shaft support. The bidirectional sealing and cavity pressure self-relief are realized by the piston effect valve seat. It provides a standard isolation valve with long service life and low maintenance for medium and high-pressure pipelines with a diameter of DN150 and above.
Performance advantage
Low operating torque: The medium thrust is carried by the ear bearing, and the valve seat load is controllable. The torque is only 1/3 to 1/5 of that of the floating ball of the same specification, significantly reducing the specification and procurement cost of the actuator.
Bidirectional airtight grade zero leakage: The downstream valve seat is self-tightened by the medium pressure, and the upstream valve seat is pre-tightened by the spring, meeting the API 598 zero bubble acceptance, and reliably closing in both directions from low pressure to full pressure.
Intrinsic safety of cavity pressure self-release: The upstream valve seat can automatically slightly open to release the abnormal high pressure generated in the middle cavity due to temperature rise into the upstream pipeline, without the need for an external safety valve.
Uniform sealing wear: The ball is precisely centered and limited by the ear shaft, eliminating eccentric wear. The wear rate of the upstream and downstream valve seats is consistent, and the sealing life is multiplied.
Full bore and low flow resistance: The ball hole is consistent with the inner diameter of the pipe, with nearly zero pressure loss. It can pass through a pigging device, meeting the requirements for internal pipeline detection and efficient medium transportation.
Economic efficiency of large-diameter cast steel: The valve body is cast in one piece, with high material utilization rate. For DN200 and above, the cost is superior to the forged steel solution.
Structural damping and vibration reduction: The inherent damping characteristics of the casting structure can absorb pipeline vibration and thermal shock, making it suitable for pulsating working conditions such as compressor outlets.
Safety performance
Fireproof structure: Standard equipped with primary non-metallic seal + secondary graphite/metal seal, certified by API 607/6FA fire test.
Anti-blowout valve stem: The reverse sealing step design meets the mandatory requirements of API 608. When the cover is completely loosened, the valve stem will not be blown out by the medium pressure.
Anti-static conduction: The resistance between the ball, valve stem and valve body is ≤10Ω, eliminating the risk of static electricity accumulation.
Cavity pressure self-relief protection: The upstream valve seat automatically relieves pressure to prevent deformation or rupture of the middle cavity due to pressure build-up.
Casting density guarantee: 100% radiographic testing is conducted on pressure-bearing castings to eliminate volume defects such as shrinkage porosity and gas holes, ensuring the integrity of the pressure boundary.
